Through homework, teachers and families can share in activities that support students' growing understanding of mathematics. Homework also will affect a student's quarterly effort grades.
4th Grade students can expect to have approximately 40 minutes to an hour of homework each night. Often there is time during the school day when students who are finished early may work on their homework assignments.
**A typical night's homework for our 4th graders is as follows:
1. 20 minutes sustained reading
2. Reading Log
3. Spelling homework
4. One night of the weekly math homework
Optional- IXL, Prodigy
Remember that teachers must balance several content areas, so it is important to communicate with your child's teacher and school regarding particular homework policies and ways that you can support your child with homework assignments.
